Industrial Authority Attends Conference to Discuss Strategies for Economic Development

Valdosta, Georgia (September 18, 2012) – Andrea Schruijer, Executive Director and Meghan Duke, Public Relations and Marketing Manager of the Valdosta Lowndes County Industrial Authority joined more than 350 economic development leaders from around the state in Savannah for the Annual Conference of the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) Sept. 12-14.
“The landscape for developing and executing local job-creation strategies is changing, and we are challenged to adapt,” said Schruijer. “The GEDA conference was invaluable for exchanging ideas on local economic development efforts and the various approaches to achieving success.”
Duke added, “the conference provides us with an array of professional networking and educational opportunities and presented discussions ranging from innovative marketing techniques to new technology tools.” GEDA conference topics included “Workplace of the Future: Expansions Through Creative Means;” “Building an Alliance: How to Use Georgia’s Centers for Innovation;” and “Navigating the Public Relations Minefield.” The conference also featured presentations of awards for individual and community contributions and achievements in economic development.
